Vogue UK, November 2015

In addition to the fantastic cover story of Léa Seydoux by Craig McDean, the November issue of Vogue UK also features a delightfully leggy cheeky editorial of Liv Tyler photographed by Venetia Scott and styled by Kate Moss. Two fashion editorials in particular stand out, both spectacularly odd, but enchanting – one kicky studio shoot that mixes mod & modern of Karlie Kloss by Patrick Demarchelier and a location/studio shoot by Harley Weir of one of my favourite models, who I think isn’t given all the credit she’s due: Saskia De Brauw. Another spectacular issue of Vogue UK, which used to kind of bore me, but lately has consistently impressed me!

‘Back In the Lime Light’ by Mert & Marcus for W, September 2015

This immense, intense, technicolor editorial in the September W magazine is like an ever lasting disco fever dream.  It’s what your imagination creates when you think of what it is that the beautiful people of the world do.  It’s models new and established, actresses, musicians, It Girls, boy toys and the gorgeous people who orbit them.  It’s like moments caught in a strobe light, brief flashes of sex, abandonment, beauty, lasciviousness, and the universal search for the best party ever.

The November issue of W features 10 models, including Kate Moss, Lara Stone, Daria Werbowy, Raquel Zimmermann, and Saskia de Brauw, on its Mert & Marcus shot cover, posing in a row of sexy, flirtatious gorgeousness (with two male models mucking up the line-up). Inside there’s a gritty, beautifully angular shoot of Karlie Kloss & Joan Smalls by Steven Klein. Yay! Models!

In the epic September issue of Vogue Italia Paolo Roversi delivers two gorgeous spreads – one dreamy couture shoot and another set of portraits of some of my favourite models like Saskia de Brauw, Guinevere Van Seenus, and Mariacarla Boscono.

It’s all about UNIQUENESS.

MFW Spring 2015 – Fendi, DSquared2 and Alberta Ferretti

Prada Spring 2015

The biggest news out of Milan Fashion Week and in the fashion world in general is the return of Gemma Ward, who ruled the runways and magazine covers in the mid 2000’s and hasn’t done any modeling work for the past 8 years.  She returned to where she launched her career on the Prada runway, opening this season’s show.   Gemma’s appearance plus Lara Stone closing the show plus the return to some classic Prada designs made this a show to remember

Alberta Ferretti Spring 2015

After the too-precious looks during NYFW, seeing how the Italians do romantic and feminine is a relief.  These are beautifully executed, flowly, pretty gowns that still look classy and mature.  The denim blue, the western style vests and the detailing makes this collection unique and interesting.   I don’t know about the boy shorts under the sheer dresses though.

Fendi Spring 2015

Fendi is basically a vegan’s nightmare.  So much leather.  So much fur.  Not to mention some subtle cultural appropriation.   If you’re able to look past that, there are some beautiful graphics and genius acts of design.  Karl Lagerfeld is a master of recreating silhouettes, which is amply demonstrated here.

DSquared2 Spring 2015

This collection from the Canadian twins Dean and Dan Catten didn’t have the panache of their past collections, but there are some great trends here.  I love the distressed, big denim with the low waist lines and crop tops. and all the primary colors for Spring.
