The 2008 Met Gala theme was “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy”. I remember loving it, though honestly all I can recall at the moment is Naomi Watts in Thierry Mugler and this fantastic photo shoot for Vogue by Craig McDean featuring wonder poser Coco Rocha dressed as various fashion warriors. Dig Coco as a Nici Ricci clad Poison Ivy and a perfect Catwoman in a Dolce & Gabbana molded corset, Swarovski crystal studded mask, and Christian Louboutin for Rodarte spiked heels that will SLAY ALL. Marvel at Coco as Gaultier’s Little Mermaid, the fiercest Batman in Rick Owens cashmere, and an angelic retro glam Dawnstar in Dior Haute Couture.
Halloween is creeping up on us quick! Let’s just really delve into the spooky & think only of blood and gore for the next week! Featured here are two of my favourite spooky shoots – an editorial titled The Splat Pack by Terry Richardson for Interview in 2008 and a vampire inspired shoot by Karl Lagerfeld from 2011.

I don’t even have the words to express how happy it makes me to see Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and their family and their love in action. Something this beautiful had to be pre-ordained – to make two of the most genetically blessed, famous, talented, forward thinking, smart, silly and sexy people in the world fall in love and create a family would have been enough of a blessing for all of us plebeian folks to look at, but then they go on to devote themselves so completely to not only creating beautiful films, they also bring so much attention, time, money, and a voice to those who struggle, who hurt, who are voiceless through their amazing devotion to charity. Then they go and have a beautiful, private, personal wedding, with Maddox and Pax walking their mom down the aisle, Zahara and Vivienne dropped rose petals and siblings Shiloh and Knox were ring bearers. As we all recover from this crushingly beautifully perfect visual, let’s look at these beautiful pictures that Brad Pitt took of his wife back in 2008 for W Magazine.
Tim Walker creates this candy coated acid trip of a universe featuring models Karen Elson, Georgia May Jagger, and Sophie Drake, as well as various actors, designers, and British eccentrics, including our favourites: Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter. The story uses quotes from Roald Dahl stories and the editorial includes an article by Dahl’s granddaughter, model Sophie Dahl. This is a world I want to live inside.
