The March issue of Vogue Italia is a triumph! Starting right off the bat with a stunning cover shot by Steven Meisel of Rianne von Rompaey. This cover is a perfect example of why I have pledged my eternal undying love to Vogue Italia as my favourite Vogue publication and Meisel as my favourite cover artist. They are my most beloved marriage (after Bey & Jay of course) and I hope the separation they were going through is over, because this is what my heart desires – ethereal beauty!

And that’s just the beginning my loves, because inside, oh inside! The cover story is a unique selection of ingénue portraits, just what Meisel does best! Photographers featured in this issue are among the most talented of our time and each of their editorials seem to celebrate their own unique style and remind us just why we love them. I’m going to specifically show you a few stories, but there are also spreads by Craig McDean, Mario Sorrenti, Michel Comte, Miles Aldridge, and Sarah Moon, as well as a third by Paolo Roversi and a second by Ellen von Unwerth & Sølve Sundsbø. Truly we are blessed! Now go buy the issue because there is no sweeter feeling than stroking the glossy pages of a truly magnificent fashion magazine!

Tim Walker Editorials for Vogue Italia, December 2015

King of Whimsy Tim Walker provides the perfect holiday gift by slaying all in FOUR editorials for the December issue of Vogue Italia. It’s a Fashion Christmas Miracle! Kate Moss stars in a sumptuous surreal shoot where she wears lace in nearly every shot. I love Kate in lace! Karen Elson puts her Elson-spin on the classic Tim Walker portrait in a very retro inspired sitting. Anna Cleveland, Christina Carey, Erin O’Connor & Jamie Bochert serve some Sarah Moon inspired perfect in an exquisite story that actually made me cry. Anna Cleveland and Jamie Bochert are two of my favourite models, seeing them together was just too much for my odd-beauty loving heart to handle. Finally Edie Campbell is featured in a spooky harlequin shoot. All the facets of Tim’s unique style shine in every separate shoot and every single photo. I’m so happy! This is an issue I would strongly encourage purchasing in paper format. Petting the pages will be perfect art therapy.

It’s Leo’s birthday! Let’s all make him papier-mâché Oscar statues! But first! Let’s look at pictures of Kate! Which is my favourite thing to do while I’m thinking about Leo.

First, allow me to FREAK OUT over these gender flip photos of Kate for the November issue of L’Uomo Vogue. GAAAAAHD! That cropped shot of her in the trousers is enough to make me want to weep into my pillow all day, but also her faaace! The cheekbones! The pomp! The bad-ass expression! My heart is full of Kate. On to the next one! Kate stars in another shoot by Peter Lindbergh for the Vogue Italia and, while equally as stunning in its stark black-and-white beauty, it doesn’t carry the same draw as the L’Uomo Vogue shoot. Also, Peter Lindbergh’s behind-the-scenes style drives me insane. I get that it’s supposed to look like this romantic voyeur shot when the subject is far off and you can see a foggy blur around the lens, but I think it looks like he accidentally stuck his thumb over part of the lens. I’ve also never cared for his shots of models posing next to all his equipment. No one cares! It’s weird and distracting! The strange thing too is that Lindbergh is actually very talented at framing a shot, he just loves the candid shots and it doesn’t work with his style at all. Kate also stars in a lovely little beauty editorial by Frederic Auerbach for Gotham. Truly we are blessed with bountiful Kateness. Also Leo! HAPPY BIRTHDAY FUTURE OSCAR WINNER! Maybe Kate will let him hold hers today and practice his speech! She’s a really good BFF.

LesBeehive Throwback Thursday – Tilda Swinton as David Bowie by Craig McDean for Vogue Italia, February 2003

It’s a well known fact that Tilda Swinton and David Bowie are Intergalactic Sisters from an Alien Mister, Star Brothers from a Mars Mother, etc. But did you know that in 2003 Tilda Swinton starred in an epically beautiful Bowie inspired photo shoot for Vogue Italia? Craig McDean shot our Alien God in a series of gender skewering, suit and smoking porn shots that reference Bowie’s iconic Life on Mars? & Thin White Duke looks. When David Bowie saw the photos, he said to stylist Edward Enninful, “When did I do this shoot?” (full quote below) CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? ISN’T THAT GLORIOUS? David Bowie thought pictures of Tilda Swinton were him! She Twin Tricked him! Hah! Good goof, Tilda!

I’ve also included one of my favourite series of Tilda photos. I only have them as tiny test shots and I know nothing about them except that they’re glorious and I have the folder they’re in labelled as “Bowie Like”. My brain is fun. So is Tilda! So is Bowie! I LOVE THE GALAXY!

“When David Bowie saw my book, he could not believe it when he saw the [Bowie-inspired 2003 Vogue Italia ] pictures of Tilda. He thought it was him. He was like, ‘When did I do this shoot?’ He was floored. Even he couldn’t believe how much she looked like him.”
