Homage to John Kacere by Robbie Fimmano for Interview, March 2015

This lush editorial from March’s Interview magazine is an homage to artist John Kacare. Kacere was one of the pioneers of the photo realism, painting ladies’ torsos clad in lingerie.   His subjects were usually lounging in bed, giving the paintings a sense of intimacy, with an emphasis on the fullness of curves.

Bert Stern’s photographs of the young actress Sue Lyon as Lolita made an impact on the fashion world that is still felt today.   This beautiful editorial by the photographer of bombshell Eva Herzigova show off the looks of those iconic photographs, girl-next-door things like cardigans, gingham, denim with knitwear and lots of innocent but seductive lingerie.  Mixed with some referencing to Andre de Dienes’s early photographs of Marilyn Monroe, this is a beautiful, sensual editorial that remains timeless and inspirational.

These 4 new-to-me EVU edits beautifully display how her high contrast, vintage-y style was so aesthetic defining for fashion in the mid to late 90’s, and includes an appearance from Jenny Shimizu, who infamously dated Angelina Jolie and is now married to fashion icon Michelle Harper.

Madonna by Mert and Marcus for Interview December 2014

December 2nd, 2014|Categories: Celebrity Editorials & Photo Shoots, Erotica, Music|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

What to say about this cover editorial for the Interview magazine’s Art Issue?  Madonna always works well with Mert and Marcus, having created many amazing photographs over the last couple decades.   These pictures are beautifully styled and Madonna is, as always, an amazing model.   I’m not against plastic surgery or air brushing, but the problem when it’s done to this extent is that it produces some serious uncanny valley vibes.  In most of these Madonna doesn’t resemble herself, and in some cases, doesn’t look like a real person, more of a digital painting.

Plus Size Models by Cass Bird for Vogue US

Five of the most iconic plus size models working today star in a lingerie shoot for Vogue US, shot by Cass Bird. The shoot was created to show full figure bodies in different bras as each model discusses their struggles and triumphs with finding the perfect undergarments. It’s a gorgeous, playful editorial about a very relatable challenge. Also, I adore all of these models, but I’m so madly in love with Ashley Graham and Candice Huffine. They’re two of the best models working in the industry right now. Keep an eye out for them, they’ll slay you every time you see them.
