Kristen Stewart is such a boss. I love her evolution as a model from reluctant fashionista to devil-may-care badass. She wears clothes, hairstyles, makeup with conviction now & it is HOT. I also love her interviews. The Nylon interview is important because Stewart addresses questions about her sexuality in a deliciously young Jodie Foster’esque ambiguous way by not denying rumours that she’s dating a woman, but not committing to an actual definitive answer. I personally love this wave of sexual fluidity among teenagers & 20-somethings who are exploring their sexuality openly, but not committing to a label. Explore! Don’t be ashamed of what you explore so long as it’s with an open heart & mind. Maybe be a little ashamed of dating Robert Pattinson because that dude is weird looking, and not in a cool dangerous way like Michael Shannon. But who am I to judge! I adore Stewart and I think FKA Twigs is an angel, so if they chose to love Pattinson, I accept all parts of those I love. But anyway, I especially like how Stewart mixes validated actor speak in with a cool disinterest in everything. “I dunno man, I’m just being me and me is the craft buddy. Deal with it.” Ok! Sounds good! Love you! Gal Pals 4 Lyfe!

When you want to do couture with a casual, who-gives-a-fuck edge, KStew is really your go-to girl.  She proved that last week when she nonchalantly walked the Chanel couture runaway and proves it again in the denim issue of Marie Claire, mixing high end pieces with distressed denim and vintage jean jackets.  She also proves again just how great she is in front of the camera, giving the perfect mix of butch cool and femme haughtiness.

Fall/Winter 2015 Couture – Chanel

I’m not going to talk or even post pictures from this ugly, boring, sad-ass collection.  I am, however, going to rant like a crazy person about the fantastic bit of PR that happened in the middle of the runway which was infinitely more exciting that the pieces Karl marched about on it.  Karl Lagerfeld’s past muses gathered around Chanel roulette tables to wear bespoke couture and gamble without care like the rich people they are.  The group included Rita Ora, Lily Collins, Vanessa Paradis and her daughter Lily Rose Depp (who at 16 isn’t legally old enough to gamble), models Lara Stone, Stella Tennant, Alice Dellal and Jamie Bochert, various males that I assume are famous in some way but I don’t care because men all look the same to me, and Julianne Moore and Kristen Stewart, who played with a lipstick like a cigarette, pulled out Julianne Moore’s chair for her and then escorted her out like the chivalrous lesbian she is.  Little styling touches – putting KStew in a velvet suit, a princess tiara on Lily Rose Depp, Vanessa Paradis in golden silk lounge wear, Jamie Bochert in vampire floating black chiffon – sold this little tableau, where everyone interacted only with each other and ignored the audience, giving the whole thing a voyeuristic thrill appropriate to any celebrity sighting.

I am so glad that stylists are finally realizing that KStew is not a high femme and are finally allowing her to wear her own soft butch look. She’s infinitely more comfortable in front of the camera now when she can wear some menswear or her own jewelry. I’m also really happy to see the French embracing her since her being winning the Casaer, the first American actress to win the French version of the Oscar in history. KStew’s acting is improving, and her doing films like Still Alice with Julianne Moore and Clouds of Sils Maria with Juliette Binoche are proof of that.

Kristen Stewart by Steven Klein, Hedi Slimane and Karl Lagerfeld

Kristen Stewart has decided to take a break from walking around LAX holding hands with her ‘really close friend’ Alicia Cargile to promote an indie movie she made a while back.  More importantly, she’s done some editorials where she actually looks like herself, and not a femmed up, uncomfortable version of herself.  The pictures by Hedi Slimane from the Wonderland (only 6 of the full 10 page editorial) are all of Kristen in her own clothing and jewelry and are the most comfortable I’ve seen her look in front of a camera.
