New Mad Men Cast Portraits

There are some juggernaut dramas all coming back at the same time in the next two months, namely Game of Thrones, Penny Dreadful, Orphan Black and the last episodes of Mad Men.  The anticipation of these final hours of one of the best modern television shows is high, especially answering the question of how will it end.  The cast portraits for the last half of the seventh season have these characters coming to the end of the 60s, with the woman in a mix of early hippie glam and Victorian via the 70s.   The cast portraits from THR made me realize yet again how much I’m going to miss these beautiful, beautiful faces.

Favorites from the 2014 Emmys

Let’s preface all of this by saying that the Emmys are bullshit.  They’re dated, and lame, and tired and completely out of touch with the way that TV is growing and changing today.  That being said, PRETTY GIRLS IN PRETTY DRESSES!  Always a win.  So here are our favorites from last night’s red carpet

The Orange is the New Black cast is comprised of such an amazing, diverse group of ladies, that everywhere you turn you see some different kind of strong female role model.  Seeing all these ladies dressed up in the fanciest dresses, wearing jewels and done up all pretty is like a revolution in terms of women in pop culture.  Each one of them is a gift for all womenkind.   These are our favorite looks from this fantastically talented cast.

Mad Men, Downton Abbey, American Horror Story and Game of Thrones are all shows that have lifted the role of lead and supporting actress to incredible new heights.  Each one of these ladies express their own charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent via their personal style in such fantastic ways.   Here are our favorite dresses from these women.

And lest we forget our other ladies, like Amy Poehler, Carrie Brownstein and some of our favorite fellows.

Of course the party pictures are always the best part of any awards show, better than the ceremony itself, mainly because of booze.

Frank W Ockenfels‘s style is instantly recognizable in its vintage film look and intimacy between the subject and the camera. This ability to depict a subject with nothing hidden lends itself perfectly to the character photography that Ockenfels does for dramas like Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and Mad Men. The portraits of musicians and actors show a glimpse of the heart of the person, and makes you realize that this is an creative force you’re looking at.

My favorite piece of his work are these iconic pictures of Christina Aguilera in her Dirrty days for Blender Magazine in 2002. Glorious.

Recent Christina Hendricks Editorials

Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks delights us in three especially gorgeous editorials: a moody, romantic shoot by Yelena Yemchuk; a colourful va-va-va-voom spread by Tony Duran; and a lush sophisticated story by James White. All equally stunning. I can’t even imagine how blessed a photographer must be when they get to shoot Christina, she is all kinds of wonderful, and the camera adores her.
