Here’s how much I love Angelina Jolie – while I was going through my 10,000+ picture collection I have on my computer of her selecting my favorites for this post celebrating her 40th birthday today, I almost started crying because I love her so much.  I am not alone in this level of worshipful adoration of the model turned actress turned director, many other women, especially those who came of age in the 90’s, see her as an icon, inspiring us all to live honestly and never be ashamed and to be kind to the world around you even if that world hasn’t been kind to you.  Angelina has been through many different transformations in her life, each one a guide post for young women to show you how to be all things that you want, when you want.

Lily-Rose Depp is the 15 year old daughter of Johnny Depp and his former wife, French model and singer Vanessa Paradis.  She’s recently gotten on the radar due to her so-on-trend-it-hurts Instagram where she’s doing the 90s redux as perfectly as only a child of two icons from the decade could do.  Last month she attended a special Chanel event to much acclaim from the fashion industry, and in her first fashion editorial, she shows that she’s already perfectly at ease in front of the camera and posed to do big things.

I am so glad that stylists are finally realizing that KStew is not a high femme and are finally allowing her to wear her own soft butch look. She’s infinitely more comfortable in front of the camera now when she can wear some menswear or her own jewelry. I’m also really happy to see the French embracing her since her being winning the Casaer, the first American actress to win the French version of the Oscar in history. KStew’s acting is improving, and her doing films like Still Alice with Julianne Moore and Clouds of Sils Maria with Juliette Binoche are proof of that.

Angelina Jolie by Mario Testino throughout the years

Angelina Jolie is the cover girl of Vanity Fair’s December 2014 issue photographed by Mario Testino.   He’s taken beautiful pictures of her throughout the years, and I thought this was a great chance to look at them.

For Allure Magazine, 2004

For Vogue, 2004

From his book “Let Me In” These pictures of her with Brad Pitt are from 2005, soon after her and Brad Pitt announced that they were together, and soon after they adopted Zahara.  These are some of my favorite pictures of her, so natural and intimate and happy.

Behind the Scenes Pictures by Michael White

Michael White may be the most famous person you’ve never heard of. Playboy, bon vivant and the man who transformed Britain’s cultural scene in the 1970s, his fascinating life story is now the subject of Gracie Otto’s The Last Impresario, a vibrant portrait of the ‘enfant terrible’ of London’s theatre-land.

The theatre and film impresario played a vital role in the industry producing more than 200 shows and films over the last 50 years, including hugely influential successes such as Monty Python’s The Holy Grail and John Waters’ Polyester. Now in his late seventies and still living the party lifestyle, he has a set of friends that reads like a veritable who’s who of A-list celebrities including Kate Moss, Anna Wintour, John Cleese and Naomi Watts who, along with many others of White’s friends, contributed with interviews for the film.

Just as anyone would, White has documented the time spent among friends and shares some of the photos from his personal albums. Photographed by their friend in somewhat casual contexts the otherwise camera-ready celebrities get a chance to relax. The selection, covering three decades, reveals some intimate moments and provoke a sense of nostalgia for photography’s pre-digital analog era. (text from here)
